The Kratos Design Group Gas Block

Hey folks, I’m going to walk you through Kratos Design Group’s first product. The Kratos Design Group gas block. At first glance, this would appear to be your average gas block. This is machined from 4140 steel, heat treated and QPQed, and has 10-32 black oxide alloy steel knurled cup-point set screws. It also has the front of the gas block drilled to aid in gas tube removal from the gas block.

But what sets this apart from all other gas blocks on the market is the little hole on top of the gas block. A prevalent issue we see is when you install the gas block onto your barrel, it’ll be canted to one side or the other. What happens is you’ll occlude that gas port on your barrel. It prevents gas from getting back into the operating system.

Which leads to short stroking issues, and all kinds of cycling issues.
But with our witness hole, you can slide the gas block over your gas port, shine a light into the witness hole, and visually confirm that you have proper alignment over that gas port on the barrel.
Another thing you can do is take a roll pin punch and place it in the witness hole, and it’ll give you good secondary confirmation that you’re perfectly aligned and good to go. From there, you can dimple it, whatever you need to do. Another cool feature that we have incorporated into this is if you’re going to pin this to your barrel, we have a little shelf machined in there. That way, when you pin it, you or your gunsmith have a nice little shelf for that drill bit to grab onto. This prevents it from walking and getting off-centered.

Over all, this is a solid Gas Block with some fun features.
We hope y’all try the Kratos Gas Block out and let us know what you think.
